Mercedes CLK 55 AMG Safety Car

The CLK 55 AMG, a high-performance model, was first introduced in europe in 2000. Prototypes were used as safety cars for the 1998 f1 season. the clk 55 amg was powered by the M113 5.4 L V8 engine with 347 ps; the CLK 55 AMG in Cabriolet version was introduced in 2002, the last model year of the c202 version.


The AMG factory equipped the clk with a complete 55 AMG conversion, which included the engine and transmission, AMG suspension, AMG brakes and complete amg factory equipment. In addition, the safety car version was equipped with recaro front seats.


A special modified version of the CLK 55 AMG was used during the 1998 F1 season as a safety car, which also served as the basis for a further modified version of the CLK 55 AMG race car built by AMG for the 2001 Targa Tasmania.
