VW Golf MK1 GTI KAMEI X1

The Volkswagen Golf Mk1 is the first generation of the small family car produced and sold by Volkswagen.

This model was notable for having a marked shift in the main lines of Volkswagen cars from rear-wheel drive and rear-mounted, air-cooled engines, to front-wheel drive with front-mounted, water-cooled engines, which were often mounted transversely.

The first-generation Golf, the successor to the Volkswagen Beetle, was launched in Europe in May 1974, styled by Italdesign’s Giorgetto Giugiaro.

The car on display is one of the most brutal modifications to the Golf Mk1 by KAMEI, one of the most renowned tuners of the period.
